Congregation of the Living Word (Kehilat Devar HaChaim) is a Messianic Jewish fellowship dedicated to honoring God and His Messiah Yeshua by studying the Word, living His Torah, and following His Spirit. We are disciples of Yeshua of Nazareth, the promised Messiah, the Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world. We look forward to the return of the Messiah and the resurrection of the dead. We honor all of God’s holy written word…the Torah, the Prophets, and the writings, as well as the Gospels and the Apostolic letters. The Fast Of Tevet Part 1: Why Do We Mourn On This Day? - English only. This Friday, January 10, 2025, is the 10th of Tevet. It is a day traditionally observed with mourning and fasting in commemoration of the destruction of both Solomon's Temple and the Second Temple. The fast is observed from Friday sunrise to sunset. While it is clear why we fast in remembrance of the day that the Temple was destroyed, it raises a question. Why do we mourn specifically on this day?
